Motion Graphics & Illustration

IMG_3494.jpeg

Beginning my career in design and illustration I became heavily focused in After Effects with deep technical knowledge of animation theory, effect chains, and automation scripting.

My free time consists of projection mapping visuals at events, creating music, and hiking through the woods.

The story I try not to be defined by

I found a cracked Creative Suite my grandma downloaded off Napster when I was 10. Before Youtube had all the tutorials, I learned the softwares from textbooks I found off of Limewire. I designed 9 logos (10 yr old designs, oof!) for local businesses.

At 11, I worked all Summer instead of hanging with friends to purchase Alias Maya that included a 500 page textbook of tutorials.

In highschool I took all of the available visual science courses leading me to teaching the class softwares that our teacher (who was smart) didn't have the knowledge of.

Upon graduation, our school had no options of scholarships and my family had no income to support formal training so I applied at a local print shop. This trained me in the foundational steps of color theory and composition while learning customer service design.

While everyone else my age was in school, I was already excelling as a professional designer.

To further pursue experience outside of my small town of Boone, NC, I moved to Denver with no plan but a deep motivation to find a high value design job. I did.

I was brought on to Hottips Electronics where I redeveloped their brand from a few retailers to all over the Mid West and East Coast. This advanced my position from entry level to lead designer in 5 years.

During COVID I needed to move back to the East Coast. This led me to be recruited by Appfire Technologies, a rising competitor of app development for B2B and SaaS companies across the world. Due to the scale of the company I started as a mid-level digital designer but rose to a lead motion designer role within 2 years. Unfortunately, as tech companies often do, internal issues arose.

TLDR:

Today, I am using my diverse range of creative skill sets as a freelancer during this strange time in the industry. Despite this, there's nothing like working with a team that advances a company to 500 million ARR.
